Batman: Out of Context

(Snyder, Jock)

The Worst Panels From Last Week's Comics

Those that listen to our podcast will know what I'm talking about, but just in case you don't, these two panels come from Outsiders #34, which is easily one of the worst comic books I've ever read. And while it's so terrible, I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous it is.

Book of the Week: Batgirl - The Flood

We're trying something a little new, Gothamites, so bear with us for a moment as we introduce a new feature. The Gotham Book of The Week is a spotlight on the website that focuses on a different trade or hardcover that we want to talk about, whether it be a new release or an oldie, but goodie, it's just a way to show our love for a title.

And this week, I wanted to talk a little bit about Batgirl: The Flood trade paperback that was released last week to comic book stores, and is hitting mainstream book stores this Tuesday, May 24, 2011!

I'm Not a Fan, But... Batman #251 (1973)

Greetings, Good Gothamites! It is I, Frank of the non-Bat Believers. Here I am once again to give a non-fan's perspective and desecrate the name of Caped Crusader whose image is printed all over those flanel pajamas you're wearing! (Very becoming, by the way.) In case you missed it, last time I talked about my introduction to Batman with the 1966 Adam West feature film. This time around, I've been given an assignment by the man with the bearded FAC3: Batman #251 a.k.a. The Joker's Five Way Revenge! It's a classic tale of the Joker's merciless ways and Batman's perseverance in chasing him down.

WARNING: Spoilers lie ahead! You've been warned!

Catwoman: Out of Context

(Darwin Cooke)

Pick of the Week: March 23rd Edition

According to your votes in the poll on the right hand side of this site, you (as well as I) voted Batman, Inc. #4 as your pick of the week! And I couldn't agree more, and here's one of our favorite panels from the book!
(Morrison, Burnham)
This was also my pick of the week, while Justin chose Justice League: Generation Lost #22, and Tim chose Superman/Batman #82. That's pretty cool, right?

But what were your thoughts on this week's comics? List them in the comments section, below!

I'm Not a Fan, But... Batman (1966)

Well hey there, Gotham! The name’s Frank. I’ve been a follower of the Gotham Podcast (or Gotham Central, or Gotham Inc., or Got Ham, or whatever they’re calling it this week) since it first began, and it’s a pleasure to finally be writing a column for the site! Growing up, I never considered myself a Batman fan. Superman always was and always will be my favorite hero. Take a moment to absorb it. Pick up those Batarangs you just threw at your screen. Feeling better? Ready to move on? Good!

Poll: Book of the Week!

Well, as a surprise to no one out there, Batgirl #18 won the poll for last week's Book of the Week with 61% of the votes!! We also named the book our "pick of the week" on the podcast, so in her honor, here's Batgirl/Klarion Out of Context!

Miller, Nguyen
Also, make sure to vote in our NEW poll by picking one of the books that came out this week. That's it, top right of the sidebar! It's going to be a difficult one to choose since we have Outsiders, and Sensei in Batman, so.. just pick something.

Thanks!

BATGIRL WEEK: Spoiler-Out of Context

It's Batgirl Week here on Gotham, Inc., and in honor of our contest and Batgirl #18 coming out Wednesday, we present to you.. Spoiler: Out of Context!

Dixon, Albuquerque

BATGIRL WEEK: Before The Cowl

As I was perusing the comments over on our contest post, I noticed that a lot of Batgirl readers out there have not had any prior experience with our young Miss Brown, so I wanted to take the time here to discuss the life and legend of one of our favorite characters, Stephanie Brown.

BATGIRL WEEK: Out of Context

Hey guys, in honor of our CONTEST and Batgirl #18 coming out this Wednesday, we present to you.. Batgirl: Out of Context!

Miller, Garbett

Pick of the Week: Secret Six!

Hey Gothamites, we've got some special news coming your way tomorrow, but I did want to stop in and let you guys know that this week's poll is now closed, so don't try to vote anymore!

As the headline tells you, the winner, with 62% of the vote was.. Secret Six #30! And that's not all, it was our pick of the week on the podcast, too! So, in celebration of its winning, we present the first ever Bane: Out of Context!

(Simone, Calafiore)

Also, if we were doing a panel of the week, the above panel would totally have won that, as well.

The 7 Most Insane Events From Batman: Odyssey #6

Everyone knows that Neal Adams' Batman: Odyssey make little, to no sense, but you may not know why exactly it makes no sense. Well, it's for the benefit of those brilliant people out there that are choosing to skip this book, that we bring to you this new monthly (or whenever it decides to come out) feature that focuses on the most insane things that happen in the book. We here at at Gotham, Inc. read this book, so you don't have to.

The Cover Alone is Crazy.
In a book where every single panel is completely insane, and when the storyline makes no sense at all, it's pretty difficult not to just scan the entire book and upload it, but we were able to hammer it down to a somewhat reasonable number.

I can't really tell you what this book is about sense I really have no clue, at all, but it's completely out of character for Batman and Ra's Al Ghul is responsible for everything. That's all you need to know about this book.

Batman (and Robin): Out of Context

Look Guys, I might be sick, but crime and Batman don't sleep, so why should I?
Batman #3
Don't hold me to that not sleeping thing, btw.
