Updates and Absolute Long Halloween Deal on Thwipster

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop in and let you know that we will be coming back for sure as soon as the DC Relaunch takes off. Unfortunately, Tim has left the podcast, but the good news is that Justin, the original second half of the podcast has returned, which is awesome! Justin was a little behind on some of the books, so that's why we're waiting for the relaunch first. However, I'll probably cut a short goodbye to a lot of the books next weekend to just kind of address all the ending books, and believe me, we're just as sad about those books ending as a lot of you are.

Are excited for Batman: Live? It looks absolutely insane to me, which is not actually a bad thing.

This is BANE

No, not that BANE! This Bane!
Click To Make Big
So, Tom Hardy as Bane, huh? Looks pretty cool to me. After seeing this, it will be hard for anyone to argue that Hardy doesn't have the look to pull of the man that broke The Bat. I, however, am disappointed with the lack of luchador in his look, and I honestly can't understand why they didn't go full mask with this, unless this is some sort of muzzle-type mask.

But honestly, the picture isn't the most exciting news here. To me, the most exciting part is how this was revealed. The promo picture of Tom Hardy as Bane from the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises was released to the public through viral marketing. If you tweeted the phrase "#thefirerises", your twitter avatar would go into the creation of the above picture, and if anyone remembers the viral marketing campaign from The Dark Knight, then you should know we have a lot more in store.

Pick of the Week: Secret Six!

Hey Gothamites, we've got some special news coming your way tomorrow, but I did want to stop in and let you guys know that this week's poll is now closed, so don't try to vote anymore!

As the headline tells you, the winner, with 62% of the vote was.. Secret Six #30! And that's not all, it was our pick of the week on the podcast, too! So, in celebration of its winning, we present the first ever Bane: Out of Context!

(Simone, Calafiore)

Also, if we were doing a panel of the week, the above panel would totally have won that, as well.

Flashpoint: Casino Bat Action Figure

Okay, so.. Flashpoint is coming. It's DC's big event this year, and it basically centers around Professor Zoom going back and changing a lot of key factors in the DC Universe, and one of the teasers we got earlier on was "He spends his days running Wayne Casinos." Which I thought, cool, y'know.. I'm down for some re-imagining of Bruce Wayne, and I like the idea of not having him as Batman, then I saw this..

Return of Bruce Wayne Hardcover Coming This Week

Hey guys,

I just wanted to drop by and remind you guys that Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne Deluxe Edition Hardcover comes out this Wednesday, and if you'd like, you can go ahead and click on the image below, and preorder it from Amazon to guarantee that you get yourself a copy.

Obviously, I read this in single issues, but I clearly remember a lot of people hating it primarily due to the delays associated with the book, so the hardcover collection will take away all of those problems, and I for one think that reading it as a collected edition will be extremely beneficial since it will read seamlessly.

It retails for $29.99, but you can get it from Amazon for only $20.24! It's a great deal for the awesome 200+ page oversized format. So pick it up, I know I will.

Also, how can you go wrong with Pirate Batman?

(Morrison, Paquette)

November Batman News

DC's The Source has posted new information to inform us on the changes coming to Batman in November. Here's what The Source has to say:

"Bruce Wayne be returning to a new set of Batman duds, but his first sidekick, Dick Grayson, will continue to fight crime on the streets of Gotham as Batman, and under the banner of 'Batman Inc.'"

As for the rest of the titles, Batman and Robin will continue the adventures of Dick and Damien, While Batman Inc., and Batman: Dark Knight will follow Bruce Wayne. Here's what editor Mike Marts had to say on the subject:

“Just as readers were getting comfortable with the idea of former sidekick Dick Grayson playing the role of Batman, along comes Bruce Wayne’s triumphant return to the Cape and Cowl. Is Gotham City ready for two Batmen? Is the world? And who’s to say the fun will end there?”

Con News

With Baltimore Comic Con and Fan Expo wrapping up this weekend, DC has thrown a whirlwind of news tidbits at us. I've posted three links to the articles that should hold interest to you. I will tease these few things:

1. Ongoing Batman Beyond series

2. “I’m going to give away a little secret: [Dick] was going to go back to Nightwing pretty quick, but that reaction that we’ve seen kept him in the costume longer -- and will see him there in the future. He’s not coming out anytime soon just because Bruce Wayne is coming back,” DiDio said.

3. What about “Gotham Central?” Sattler said DC is “working on something that will fill that niche.”
