The ground rules? Like I said, just leave a comment on this article saying that you want the art, and that's all you have to do! Although, I would suggest saying what you love about the series (it shouldn't be difficult) and also, maybe tweeting or emailing us a picture of the issue when you buy it, because you are going to want to read that issue, I guarantee it. The contest starts RIGHT NOW and ends at.. hmm.. let's say right before Smallville airs on the west coast? How does that sound? The winner will be chosen over that weekend and will be notified a week from today, so that's February 14 (Valentine's Day!), 2011. Who could ask for a better treat!? I'd do almost anything for some Batgirl art. Nguyen's artwork has been absolutely amazing on this book, making it that much better. And it was already pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have been very impressed in the artwork so far in Batgirl. The stories have the same vibe as the early part of the Power Girl run. Can't wait to see what happens next now, especially with the Damien interaction in the future.

ReplyDeleteThat Q has been able to take a maligned, dead-then-not character like Steph and make her one of the most likable characters in the DCU, while creating a stable of fantastic character relationships that unfold like a TV show is a huge accomplishment. Art by Nguyen and Lee Garbett doesn't hurt either.

Oh my stars, do I ever want this art! Steph Brown has been nothing but delightful since the start of her Batgirl series. I love her supporting cast, I love her relationships with the rest of the Bat family, but most most of all I love her! Batgirl is consistently the book I'm most excited about buying :)

Dustin Nguyen is amazing. His work on the bat family has been astounding. Miller has been knocking it out of the park on this series too. Cannot wait to read this issue when it hits! Would love to get my hands on that art too!
ReplyDeleteBat girl is easily my favorite bat-family ongoing. Most of that is thanks to Dustin Nguyen's art. He really captures Steph's personality. When I reading I feel like I'm not just seeing her but I'm seeing the way she sees Gotham. Nguyen has the ability to turn gotham into an exciting city full of fun and adventure; worlds away from Bruce's cess pit of crime and human suffering. That is impressive as Gotham, more than any other city in the DC universe is identified with one character.
ReplyDeleteOwning an actual piece of art from a series I love so dearly would be a dream come true. I'm opening a comic shop of my own that focuses on getting young readers into comics. Nguyen's Batgirl perfectly represents the world that I want kids to be apart of when they read. This would look great on our wall. I would really love to win!

Her new costume is so awesome, it's the first one any Batgirl has ever had that's made me give the character a second look. I've been loving Bryan Q. Miller's Batgirl since the first issue. I didn't know much about Steph as a character, but Miller really made me fall in love thy the series! Dustin Nguyen's artwork on topof amazing story writing pushes this book to the brink of awesome!

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say what an AMAZING contest you guys have managed to set up for your listeners. First, it's an awe inspiring piece of artwork, but then again what else would we expect from Dustin Nguyen. Second, Batgirl has quickly become one of my favorite "Bat-Books" since it's launch. I'm the first to admit that I wasn't a big Stephanie/Spoiler fan upon her introduction and even less so with her turn as Robin, but since dawning the mantle of Batgirl, under the pen of of Bryan Q Miller, she's become one of the better supporting cast members of the Bat-Family.
And I'm not talking about just her growth as a character, but also how she interacts with those around her. From her sisterly relationship with Damian, to her admiration of Bruce and respect for Tim and Dick, she's truly got a unique synergy with the rest of the DC universe thanks to Mr. Miller and his understanding of the character and her motivations.
While I obviously hope to win this prize, I'm honestly excited and happy for whoever would win.

I love this series and all the Nguyen art I've seen so far! I wish I'd had Steph's Batfamily overview from Batgirl 15 when I was explaining the history of the Robins to my friend. ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the book so far, although being it the only DC title I buy, sometimes I get kind of lost on references, but it's a nice book starring a young female hero and you can actually read it without fear of "landmines".

ReplyDeleteI just got into comics somewhat recently - Batgirl #9 was one of the first ones I ever picked up. Bryan's writing made me completely fall in love and the combo of amazing writing and art is why it's the only Bat book that I buy every month. I went from not really knowing who anyone was to in love with Stephanie Brown immediately!
As for Dustin, his work is just ridiculously good. It would be such an honor to have an original from him ^__^ This series of Batgirl covers is some of the best coverwork that I've seen!

As for Batgirl, I've been reading from the start and loving every minute of it. Lee Garbett and Dustin Nyguen have been great artists to match Brian Miller's creative story lines. This is that one comic book you don't need to pick up but you just want to. Highly recommended.
Steph is the entire reason I started reading DC in the first place. And she's kind of my "life is full of second chances themed" hero. So thank so so so much for hosting this contest!

Batgirl's been my springboard into Batman (and DC as a whole) over the past year, and I've fallen in love with both Steph and Dustin's art. My mind, she cannot handle all this awesome in one book :(

ReplyDeleteI WANT THAT ART. Batgirl is one of the best surprises of the past year, went in not really knowing what to expect and got something great. One of DC's best books over the past year and I've always really enjoyed Dustin's art so him on the book is great.
ReplyDeleteFirst at all, say thanks to Dustin N'Guyen himself who writes in his deviantart journal we had the possibility to win this art ! And what art ! Of course, with Batgirl on it and shiny colours. But what else ? Klarion, that i discovered with Seven soldiers of Victory and so i'll be happy again to see him again. I follow Dustin art because i love it, specially since he draws Batgirl because we really have the sensation it takes a lot of pleasure. So, enjoy again his work and good luck to everybody !

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Dustin's art, so him + Steph is just a win-win situation :) I think my favourite thing about Batgirl is that, of all the Batfam members, Steph seems to have grown the most, but she's still kept her lighthearted personality, and she's just so damn funny and chipper, despite all the crap she's gone through :P And then the art has always been amazing, and I almost want to frame the comics and hang them on my wall. 'Cept then it'd be a pain when I want to reread them (and I reread Batgirl A LOT) :D
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of Steph- I run a Stephanie Brown wiki and Bryan Q. Miller and I have corresponded, I did a whole series on her in scans_daily, the list goes on- I really love her! And Dustin Nguyen's artwork is astounding, as is Bryan Q. Miller's work on the character. So I would really love this a lot if I won. It's fantastic.

ReplyDeleteI was skeptical on getting Steph!Batgirl because I loved Cass and knew they were totally different. I held off for weeks on buying it. But once I saw that Dustin was doing covers for it I started buying the series regularly. Now I'm getting a hold of all the other issues I've missed! Can't wait for this one to be out! I want the issue, the artwork, and the action figure! Steph is definitely not Cass but she is one badass bat nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been into comic books for terribly long, but I have been with the Stephanie Brown Batgirl from the beginning and have loved every panel of sexy crime-fighting action. The dialogue of Stephanie Brown I find immensely enjoyable and laugh out loud fun! For a long time I have eyed Streets of Gotham for the fantastic artwork of Dustin Nguyen, but being the poor college student I am just couldn't afford both SoG and Batgirl together. Having Nguyen doing artwork for Batgirl has been like a dream come true!

ReplyDeletemy wife and i just got done cosplaying tim and stephanie as red robin and batgirl at a con in cincinnati. our wedding cake topper was a the steph batgirl and a batman action figure. i know she'd love this for a valentine's gift.

I love Batgirl and want this so bad! Not only is the comic awesome but to have someone like Dustin illustrating for it is amazing! His art is fantastic and is what inspired me to pursue illustration when I go to college. He is Kick-A and I hope to one day be as awesome as him.

ReplyDeleteI didn't start reading Batgirl until recently, but I'm loving it. I've been hearing good things about it for a while, but when Dustin Nguyen became the artist I just couldn't resist adding it to my comic pile anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love Batgirl because she's an awesome, kick-ass girl, but she's still so human, and she actually acts her age. Such a rare gem in Comics. Miller and Nguyen are really knocking it out of the park.

ReplyDeleteStephanie is my favorite character ever. Period. I was in love with her long before she became Batgirl--back when hardly anyone even knew who she was, let alone liked her!
Now, seeing her as Batgirl and getting the recognition she deserves is amazing. When I heard Dustin was going to be taking over the art on Batgirl, I was overjoyed like you wouldn't believe! He is one of my favorite artists and he draws the cutest Steph. It just made the whole thing even more perfect.

I think Nguyen is really one of the most underrated Batman artists. Unique style and solid cartooning.

ReplyDeleteSo, I work at a comic book store and watch Dustin on DA, so I usually see him post the pictures of the covers he does there. It pleases me very much to basically see one of his actual covers first in our town as our store is the only comic book store in the town.

ReplyDeleteDustin Nguyen IS my Batman artist. His renditions and mini-Bat characters are the funnest and cutest things from DC. And Dustin's a nice guy. I really appreciate the time we had talking about his art at SDCC last year. Keep up the good work!!!

ReplyDeleteI always felt bad for Steph and how she was treated in DC until I started reading Batgirl. That girl does not need my pity! Her spirit and never-say-die attitude are a welcome contrast to the Batfamily's usual dour atmosphere.
And the series has been blessed with consistently amazing art the whole way. Dustin Nguyen's art so perfectly represents Stephanie's energy and youth that every month I get more and more excited by the prospect of having that cover in my collection.
Batgirl, yes! Stephanie Brown is such an inspiring character. I've only just recently gotten into the Batman franchise, but I can say I've already fallen in love with these characters. All I can say is that it's been a rough week for my high school, though I'd rather not get into the gritty details. So I thought I'd leave a comment looking for a miracle, and maybe I'd lend the prizes to a friend who needs cheering up more than me. If not, I'd just like to say that your work is wonderful and keep it up! It always makes me smile when artists are so nice to their fans, and I'm just happy to see you all doing what you love best :)

ReplyDeleteOooh...shiny. If it's the Batman Reborn figure, I already have it, and I'll be buying the issue at my local LCS (aka work) but I can't help but love the shot at original art. The surplus can be given to loving homes if needed.
