Batman: Out of Context

Morrison/Jansen

3 Most Anticipated Books: December 8, 2010

Every week, we make a pull list. That pull list contains everything that comes out in Gotham books, but I'm not going to lie, I don't look forward to reading all of them. There are, however, books that I don't want to miss at all.

Here are my top three books that I'm looking forward to the week of December 8, 2010.

Gotham, Inc. What Does It Mean?

Well, if you pay attention to the comics, it should pretty much make sense. We'll be taking the concept of Batman, Inc., and applying it to the podcast. I'll let your mind soak on that one for just a minute...

I'm still withholding details, but our 100th episode is coming up next and everything will be clear, but I guarantee you, things are changing. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!

NYCC: DC Universe Panel

..and we're back! After an extended hiatus, the crew here at Gotham Central are getting up to date on all of the Batman books, returning from New York Comic Con, and bringing along a few treats with them.

There wasn't a lot of Batman news given at the con, but at the DC Universe panel, there were a few nice tidbits given on some of the upcoming storylines in the Batman books, and embedded after the jump are a few videos from the panel. We've got some great pics from the convention, but those are still to follow, but check out the videos for details about the future of Batman in DC Comics.

The 13 Worst Batman Costumes of 2010

Hello Gothamites,

After intense research scouring the deep, dark corners of the Internet, I have uncovered the dark side of Halloween costumes. Listed below are the highlights low lights of the available Batman related Halloween costumes of 2010. I don't want to take this time to lampoon kids, so the majority of these are adult themed, which adds a whole different level of weird to these costumes.

1. The Cowl: For  a mere $3.60 from Halloween Costumes 4 U, you too can look like a psychopath! With what looks like paper mache wrapped with a black, this fine Halloween mask will most likely not have be able to protect your identity from the criminal element, because, if you're anything like this model, the mask won't even line up properly with your face.

Autographed Variant - Batgirl #1

Finally got this beautiful autographed variant by Bryan Q. Miller framed. It took me long enough!

November Batman News

DC's The Source has posted new information to inform us on the changes coming to Batman in November. Here's what The Source has to say:

"Bruce Wayne be returning to a new set of Batman duds, but his first sidekick, Dick Grayson, will continue to fight crime on the streets of Gotham as Batman, and under the banner of 'Batman Inc.'"

As for the rest of the titles, Batman and Robin will continue the adventures of Dick and Damien, While Batman Inc., and Batman: Dark Knight will follow Bruce Wayne. Here's what editor Mike Marts had to say on the subject:

“Just as readers were getting comfortable with the idea of former sidekick Dick Grayson playing the role of Batman, along comes Bruce Wayne’s triumphant return to the Cape and Cowl. Is Gotham City ready for two Batmen? Is the world? And who’s to say the fun will end there?”

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Trailer

Here's the first official trailer for Superman/Batman: Apocalypse!!! Looks amazing!!

Con News

With Baltimore Comic Con and Fan Expo wrapping up this weekend, DC has thrown a whirlwind of news tidbits at us. I've posted three links to the articles that should hold interest to you. I will tease these few things:

1. Ongoing Batman Beyond series

2. “I’m going to give away a little secret: [Dick] was going to go back to Nightwing pretty quick, but that reaction that we’ve seen kept him in the costume longer -- and will see him there in the future. He’s not coming out anytime soon just because Bruce Wayne is coming back,” DiDio said.

3. What about “Gotham Central?” Sattler said DC is “working on something that will fill that niche.”
