Possible Batman 3 Plot and Domain Site

Here's an interesting bit of news from comicbookmovie.com. It appears that whereisbrucewayne.com has been purchased as an promotional site like I Believe in Harvey Dent was for The Dark Knight. Comic Book Movie also published this possible plot point to be associated with the promotional site:

Bruce Wayne buries himself in work as Batman and leaves his Bruce Wayne persona behind as their is nothing left for him. He hasn't been seen for 6 months in public and is said to be locked away in the newly built Wayne Manor.

Now, I can definitely get behind this Batman plot. This reeks of classic, moody, brooding Batman and I love it. This is also a perfect character progression coming from TDK. Kudos if this is true.

Holy F*&! Batman! The Riddler Confirmed for Batman 3?!

Well, well, well, what do we have here!? According to an article posted over at First Showing, The Riddler is listed as one of the names listed on a casting grid (which apparently confirms everything in the world, but I have no idea, I'm not a film guy), and guess who's listed as a possible candidate for the role?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt. That's right! The kid from 3rd Rock From The Sun, (500) Days of Summer, and the recent Christopher Nolan mind-eff, Inception!

Now, I don't know about you guys, but this is, indeed, my dream casting for this role, so I am looking forward to it! Also, look towards San Diego Comic Con this weekend for more details. And also don't forget our Batman 3 theories special episode coming later this week!

Chris Nolan (hearts) IMAX

Early Tuesday afternoon, MTV's Splashpage posted that Christopher Nolan has completely fallen head over heals in love with IMAX. It was posted that after Chris Nolan shot portions of The Dark Knight in IMAX (my personal favorite scenes) that Nolan discussed with director of photography, Wally Pfister, about the possibility of shooting all of Inception in IMAX.

After a long discussion, it was decided upon that there was no way to realistically film all of Inception in IMAX, but what about Batman 3? Well, director of photography Wally Pfister had this to say..

"I can't say until I read the script, but it would certainly be my preferred, amazing goal to shoot the whole movie in IMAX."

The Main Caine Speaks

Well, as a famous Walrus once said, the time has come to talk of many things. In this case, it is time to reveal, thanks to Sir Michael Caine, the start date for Batman 3. Caine, at the premiere of Inception, told reporters the Dark Knight sequel is to begin filming in April with a July 20, 2012 release date. This Bat-fan would like to thank the great Sir Michael Caine for making April and July the two best months of the year (I'm not counting the fact that my birthday is in July - that just makes it extra special).


Also, in my craze of Batman 3, I stumbled upon this fan poster I wish would turn into a reality. Enjoy it and treasure it as I do.

Rumor Roundup: Batman 3 Insanity

In keeping with the trends concerning recent super hero movies, the third tale in Christopher Nolan's Batman saga is no exception. Over the past few months, rumors have been flying about who would be cast in the upcoming film. Recently, Robin Williams was rumored to have been dying to play the role of Edward Nigma a.k.a. The Riddler. I don't know about you, but to me that's a little on the ridiculous side.

But this is by no means the only crazy rumor surrounding casting of the third film, let me take you back for a moment. Remember about a year ago when the Internet went crazy over the announcement that Miley Cyrus had auditioned for Batgirl, even though Barbara Gordon was about 5 in The Dark Knight? Also, you may have missed this, but a site called The Inquisitr actually had "verified" that the following actors had signed contracts concerning these roles in Batman 3: Shia LeBouf as Robin, Rachel Weisz as Catwoman, and Eddie Murphy as The Riddler. Not to mention the crack piped induced idea that Sam Worthington would replace Christian Bale as Batman.

Some of the less insane rumors have been Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Johnny Depp, and Leonardo DiCaprio all to play Edward Nigma, and Meghan Fox (sort of ridiculous), Angelina Jolie, and Eliza Dushku slated to play Catwoman. And all of these were before the script was even finished! So imagine, if you will, what we have in store for us.

It's coming Gotham, and it's going to be a long two years.

Batman 3 Script Finished

According to the esteemed Mr. Christopher Nolan, via an interview with the Coventry Telegraph, the third Nolan-Batman movie script has been completed. Nolan himself has stated he keeps his mind firmly planted in one movie at a time, so until Inception is released on July 16th, don't expect too much Batman 3 news. He did however state he is very excited about the story he and his brother Jonathan have in stored. At this point in the Batman process, if Christopher Nolan says he's excited, we should all be excited too.

Batman 3 News from Nolan

We finally have news from the horse's mouth, i.e. Chris Nolan himself!! Since "The Dark Knight" was released, fans have clambered over each other to learn about the future of Batman 3. Over a year later, we finally have something to go on!

"Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story, and in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story. We have a great ensemble, that's one of the attractions of doing another film, since we've been having a great time for years."

Great start!! But there's more! Nolan also commented on the connection B3 will have to the new Superman movie he's "godfathering."

"Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other."

And that's the whole kit and caboodle.

Third Christopher Nolan Batman Film Confirmed

If you look closely at the recent interview with Warner Brothers' President Jeff Robinov you will find two very exciting movie announcements: the next Dark Knight is set, and a Wonder Woman movie might be in the cards.

Yesterday we told you about the third Nolan Batman film being in the works with brother Jonah and David Goyer on board to cowrite the script. Now the New York Times has confirmed that Batman film, and a possible movie version of our favorite Amazonian.

While interviewing director Nolan about working with Robinov they confirmed the next Batman picture and later said that Wonder Woman might be one of the next DC characters appearing on the big screen.

"He is trying not to cling to the things that have worked in the past," said Christopher Nolan, who directed "The Dark Knight" and is working on another Batman sequel....

The Walt Disney Company's $4 billion purchase of Marvel Entertainment just over a month ago has increased the pressure on Warner to succeed this time. Warner is expected to announce a DC slate in the coming months populated by characters like the Flash and Wonder Woman.

This is probably the closest thing to a confirmation we're going to get besides an official press release from the studio.

Christopher Nolan has etched his way into my Bat-loving heart with "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" but he has his work cut out for him on the third film. Can you think of any trilogy where the third film was the best?

Interesting Way To Bring The Joker Back For Batman 3

Batman On Film guest contributor Mark Hughes wrote up an interesting article recently, entitled “Why and How The Joker CAN return in Batman 3.″ In the article Hughes explains exactly how The Joker can be re-used in the next Christopher Nolan directed Batman movie. He has a specific subplot in mind for the film which I thought was perfect. Here's a small dose of the article:

“A subplot about this aspect of the Joker as he relates to Batman and Gotham could be an important addition to the storyline… We need not see an entire new storyline about the Joker menacing all of Gotham. The Joker as a supporting character, much like Lecter’s role in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS was not the main plot but instead the most important narrative element making up subplots and character arcs”

For those not familiar, Anthony Hopkins won an Academy Award for Best Actor in Silence of the lambs, where he only has 16 minutes of screen time helping the protagonist accomplish her goals.

I think this is a brilliant idea and I'd love to see it. What do YOU think?

David Goyer Back On Batman!

David Goyer was one of the key players in the recent live action Batman revival. Last year he took on showrunning duties over at ABC on their "Lost Lite" sci fi show "FlashForward." Recently we learned he has stepped aside from "Flashforward," in order to focus on some film projects, including the next Batman film!

Goyer had this to say about the show,

"As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions. I'm proud of the show and excited about the relaunch. It's in great hands."

Deadline Hollywood recently got the Goyer scoop on his involvement in the third Batman film in the "Nolan-verse,"

"Goyer's feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah."

Goyer has been hit-or-miss with me as far as comic properties are concerned. He's dabbled in writing, producing and directing (Blade: Trinity) and some have been hits (Batman films) and some have been misses (Blade TV show).

He's definitely got his hands full with "Batman," "Ghost Rider," "Super Max," and "X-Men Origins: Magneto." Here's hoping he can focus his attentions and put out a quality product with the next Batman film.
