Rumor Roundup: Batman 3 Insanity

In keeping with the trends concerning recent super hero movies, the third tale in Christopher Nolan's Batman saga is no exception. Over the past few months, rumors have been flying about who would be cast in the upcoming film. Recently, Robin Williams was rumored to have been dying to play the role of Edward Nigma a.k.a. The Riddler. I don't know about you, but to me that's a little on the ridiculous side.

But this is by no means the only crazy rumor surrounding casting of the third film, let me take you back for a moment. Remember about a year ago when the Internet went crazy over the announcement that Miley Cyrus had auditioned for Batgirl, even though Barbara Gordon was about 5 in The Dark Knight? Also, you may have missed this, but a site called The Inquisitr actually had "verified" that the following actors had signed contracts concerning these roles in Batman 3: Shia LeBouf as Robin, Rachel Weisz as Catwoman, and Eddie Murphy as The Riddler. Not to mention the crack piped induced idea that Sam Worthington would replace Christian Bale as Batman.

Some of the less insane rumors have been Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Johnny Depp, and Leonardo DiCaprio all to play Edward Nigma, and Meghan Fox (sort of ridiculous), Angelina Jolie, and Eliza Dushku slated to play Catwoman. And all of these were before the script was even finished! So imagine, if you will, what we have in store for us.

It's coming Gotham, and it's going to be a long two years.
